Collection: Drayman's Spirits

Mampoer is a fiery spirit that is truly indigenous to South Africa. Drayman's makes Hakkiesdraad Mampoer, a traditional Bosveld mampoer that comes in peach, maroela, litchi and cherry. Hakkiesdraad is Afrikaans for barbed wire, and the bottle is wrapped in it.

How Hakkiesdraad is made

Hakkiesdraad is distilled (gestook) in a pot still to a high purity, using the traditional double distillation method. There is no sweetening and no fortification with cane sugar. The smoothness and flavour come from a lengthy, gentle copper distillation and the separation of a clean middle cut, the heart of the run. Made at the same Silverton distillery as our small batch whisky.
